Tours Goodfellow Air Force Base, receives a briefing on intelligence operations, visits with Airmen

SAN ANGELO, Texas – U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) today continued his statewide ‘Texas Defends America’ tour with a visit to Goodfellow Air Force Base. There, he received an update on operations and training, and met with Air Force service members stationed there.

“It’s an honor to visit with the Airmen stationed here at Goodfellow,” Sen. Cruz said. “As part of Air Education and Training Command, Goodfellow is home to the 17th Training Wing, which trains service members to be experts in intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance, and fire protection. Brave servicemen and women from every branch of our military forces are assisted by this specialized training. By prioritizing cryptologic, surveillance, and intelligence training, Goodfellow is making long term investments in the cybersecurity, strength and defense of our nation.”

The FY19 NDAA included over 30 provisions secured by Sen. Cruz that will ensure the continued success of Texas’ military communities and address the United States’ national security interests. Additionally, the bill authorizes a significant increase in the size of the Air Force, with the new minimum Active Duty end strength at 329,100 by September 30, 2019.
