Katy Which Wich Owner Spreads over 5000s PB&Js to Benefit Kids’ Meals Houston

Julio Chavez, the owner of Katy’s Which Wich Superior Sandwiches, and the community will come together on Monday, August 13, 2018 for a Project PB&J event to benefit Kids’ Meals Houston. The event will be taking place from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Sysco Warehouse in Houston where more than 30 volunteers will be preparing and spreading more than 5,000 PB&J sandwiches to feed hungry children in the greater Houston area. Houston ranks as having the fifth most children living with food insecurity of all cities in the U.S.

Kids’ Meals Houston’s mission is to end childhood hunger among pre-school aged children by bringing meals to their doorsteps. Preschool-aged children often fall through the gap of social services addressing food insecurity. The organization feeds roughly 4,800 kids in the Houston community every day.

“We’re excited to get the Katy community involved and Kids’ Meals Houston is a great organization. I’d love to do this event four times a year with my team. It makes a huge difference and I love to give back,” said Chavez.

Chavez and his team of volunteers still need the help of the community and are looking for additional volunteers to participate on Monday, August 13. People of all ages are welcome to help at the event. For more information about volunteer opportunities contact Julio Chavez: jchavez@whichwich.net.
