Nora’s Home to Host Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Opening of Phase Two Expansion

Friday, September 21, 2018: 10 a.m. – Noon

HOUSTON (July 31, 2018) – Nora’s Home, Houston’s haven for organ failure and transplant patients receiving care in the Texas Medical Center, will host a ribbon cutting ceremony for the facility’s expansion on Friday, September 21, 2018, from 10 a.m. – Noon.

Nora’s Home invites guests, supporters and friends to celebrate the opening of the phase two expansion project with a ribbon cutting ceremony with representatives of the Texas Medical Center. During the celebration, light bites and refreshments will be served and tours will be given of the new expansion facility, which doubles the existing capacity of Nora’s Home from 16 to 32 family suites.

Nora’s Home is dedicated to providing all patients and families in the Texas Medical Center with the necessary support and resources they require for a successful transplant. The expansion includes several community rooms, a large kitchen with capacity for cooking classes and multiple meal preparation, a large laundry room, expanded storage space, and administrative offices. Four of the family guest rooms will be built with strict immune suppressed protocol for post-lung transplant patients. A boardroom and education room will open up to allow for expanded space in the central Transplant Life Center.

Since opening in November 2013, Nora’s Home has served more than 906 guests and consistently holds a waitlist turning away five families for every one served. To meet this growing demand, the phase two expansion project was established and will now accommodate more transplant patients on the lengthy waitlist. Nora’s Home is helping to fill the housing void and is currently the only hospitality-housing program in the Gulf Coast region to address the specific needs of transplant patients.

A special grand opening celebration will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at 6 p.m. in conjunction with Nora’s Home Golf Classic sponsor reception.
