Cinco Ranch Branch Library Hosts Summer Family Movie Series

The Youth Services department at Fort Bend County Libraries’ Cinco Ranch Branch Library will feature “Family Movie Day” — a free movie series for families with kids of all ages — in July. The movies will begin at 1:30 p.m., in the Meeting Room of the library, located at 2620 Commercial Center Blvd in Katy.

The movie to be shown on Friday, July 6, is an animated comedy-adventure released in 2017. While searching for the perfect present for his beloved Aunt Lucy’s 100th birthday, Paddington Bear spots a unique pop-up book and embarks upon a series of odd jobs to buy it. When the book is stolen by an unscrupulous actor, however, it’s up to Paddington and the Brown family to unmask the thief. This movie is rated PG.

The series continues on Friday, July 20. In this 2017 animated action-adventure film, Surly Squirrel and his friends discover that the mayor of Oakton City plans to destroy their home in Liberty Park to build a giant amusement park. The animals must stop the mayor, his daughter, and a mad animal-control officer in order to take back the city park. This movie is rated PG.

The movies are free and open to the public. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver. The library is unable to accommodate school groups or daycares at these activities.

The libraries’ licensing agreement for public showing of films prohibits them from releasing the name of the movie outside of the library.
