Fort Bend Charities background. (Event is part of Fort Bend County Charities, which is the Non Profit Fort Bend County Commissioner Precinct 3 Andy Meyers started to support this area – it’s not a government sponsored event).

Since 2003, Fort Bend Charities, Inc., a 501(c)(3) has provided financial support to various charities working to serve residents of Fort Bend County including the Lone Star Veterans Association, a non-profit focused on assisting young men and women as they transition from the military to civilian life; Katy Christian Ministries, a non-profit focused on assisting the most vulnerable in our community with a variety of social services, including a food pantry;  Simonton Christian Academy, The Fort Bend County Fair, Katy Future Farmers of America (FFA), and other worthwhile organizations.

The Fort Bend County Literary and Fine Arts Festival (Fort Bend Arts Fest) began 5 years ago and has grown into a much loved community event that’s attended by over 2000 Katy area residents annually. The event was started as an outreach to support & celebrate the literary and artistic talents of children in Fort Bend County Precinct 3. Commissioner Meyers noticed that while academic achievements and sports are widely celebrated in our area, students and teachers who participate in the arts are often overlooked. Together with local partners, Fort Bend County Libraries & Fort Bend Charities, the Fort Bend Arts Fest was created as a way to support & partner with our Fort Bend County precinct 3 schools in Katy ISD, Fort Bend ISD, and LCISD. The annual event includes a Literary and Visual Arts contest judged by a panel of professionals, and former educators. Artwork and essays submitted by participating students are displayed publicly at the Cinco Ranch Branch Library during the weeks surrounding the Festival. The winners of Essay and Visual Arts category are announced and awarded prizes at a special ceremony that takes place at the Fort Bend Arts Fest. The Award Ceremony also recognizes participating teachers, and includes a raffle drawing packed with prizes & items that are useful in the classroom. Along with the Essay and Visual Arts Contest, the Fort Bend Arts Fest also includes 100’s of kid-friendly vendors & activities, pet adoptions from Fort Bend County Animal Shelter, Firetruck and EMS/Ambulance tours, food trucks, live entertainment, a children’s Storybook Character Parade, and more!
