Mayde Creek Varsity Girls Win 2nd Place at Donaldson Relays

On Friday, March 9, the Varsity Girls competed at the Aldine ISD M.B. Donaldson Relays at Bill Smith Stadium in Aldine. This was a very competitive meet with over 25 teams competing. The Lady Rams had an outstanding night and claimed 2nd place!

The meet kicked off to a great start in field events. Shania Steptoe earned the Gold in High Jump with a nice jump of 5-2.

Alessa King had an outstanding 2nd place performance in the Long Jump, jumping a personal best jump of 18-1.

Savannah Frost and Tatiana Ventura snagged 1st and 3rd place in the Pole Vault with vaults of 8-6 and 6-6, respectively.

In Triple Jump, Agnes Mines placed 3rd with a jump of 34-5 ¾

In Discus, Ashley Lee placed 5th with a throw of 100-3.

Going into running events, the Lady Rams were already sitting well in their placing with 44 points and we knew it was going to be an exciting night!

Running events started off strong with Jennifer Soto winning the 3200 meter run with a time of 12:03. Jennifer Soto also placed 2nd with a time of 5:38.

In the 800 meter run, Alessa King placed 6th with a time of 2:32.

It was an exciting meet and it was really a true team effort! Please congratulate the girls when you see them. The girls will be back in action at the Bluebonnet Relays in Brenham on March 23.
