Prairie Grasses and their Effect on Flooding

Prairies retain storm water and the grasses help the prairie absorb water.

How much do they change the flooding picture?

That is what we will try to gauge at our meeting this Friday noon. Our speaker, Jim Willis with the Wildlife Habitat Foundation, which he founded in 2004 after a career as an agricultural economist, will give us a slide presentation featuring successful prairie restoration. The talk will also cover the TxDOT program to arrest invasive species on TxDOT rights of way.
