American Red Cross Texas Gulf Coast Region Names New Regional Chief Executive

HOUSTON, TEXAS, (February 07, 2018) — Henry Van de Putte III, has been named the Regional Chief Executive for the American Red Cross, Texas Gulf Coast. He joins the region February 26, 2018.

In his new role as Regional Executive for the Texas Gulf Coast, Van de Putte will leverage his diverse experience working for non-profits and corporate organizations to lead a team of over 5,000 volunteers and staff, oversee four chapters that support over 9 million residents across 51 counties and be accountable for service delivery and fundraising throughout the region.

“We believe Henry is the right leader for the Texas Gulf Coast,” said Barbara Vilutis, Chair of Greater Houston Area Red Cross, Board of Directors. “He passionately and honestly believes in the Red Cross Mission and has a clear-eyed vision for delivering services to our communities. He has demonstrated the ability to successfully lead the organization in preparedness initiatives as well as during times of disaster and we look forward to the experience and energy he will bring to the Texas Gulf Coast Region.”

Prior to joining the Texas Gulf Coast, Van de Putte served as Executive Director for the Red Cross serving the Greater San Antonio Area.  While there, Van de Putte increased community partnerships, renewed confidence with elected and community leaders and supported local staff in growing a strong volunteer base. Van de Putte, a proven leader in times of crisis, provided leadership during the Red Cross response to the tragic mass shooting that occurred in Sutherland Springs, Texas. Prior to coming to the Red Cross, Van de Putte served as Director of Advancement for Central Catholic High School in San Antonio, where he engaged stakeholders, managed an annual giving program and provided strategic leadership. He also served as Director of Operations & Corporate Accounts for Dixie Flag Manufacturing Company, establishing growth and sustainability strategies.

Van de Putte graduated from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. He will be relocating to Houston with his wife and two-year old twins.
