Sundance Memory Care and Cane Island to Host Benefit Concert in Katy

October 19 event will unite the community to celebrate hope and joy

KATY, Texas (Sept. 28, 2017)—Sundance Memory Care, a Montessori-based community focused on providing innovative care to people living with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, has joined forces with Katy’s Cane Island to host a benefit concert and bring people from Houston together for an evening of joy and hope.

While there is a lot of work to be done following Hurricane Harvey’s destruction in Houston, the team at Sundance Memory Care knows the importance of living life to the fullest despite adversity and the power of a community is stronger than the power of individuals. That’s what inspired Sundance Memory Care CEO and Founder Matt Stanley to create an event that celebrates togetherness and the strength of the Houston community.

“Sometimes, folks are just trying to survive, and we are seeing this in epic proportions in the Katy area,” Stanley said. “People are looking for hope and trying to remember the feeling of joy–that’s what this concert is about. To show that WE as a community can do this, we are strong, people matter more than things, and life is special.”

This event is open to the public and while admission is free, donations are encouraged. Donations collected during the concert will benefit Hope for the Heart/HOPEworks Counseling—a worldwide biblical counseling ministry—and The Ballard House, which provides temporary housing for patients and their caregivers coming to Katy/West Houston area medical centers for treatment of life-threatening illnesses.

The Ballard House is currently closed due to flooding from Hurricane Harvey.

Attendees will enjoy music by notable bands such as Marc Broussard, The Mrs and Reed Turner. Food and beverages will be available onsite and will be provided by Mighty Swell Sparkling Cocktails, Guns & Oil Brewing Company, Austin Eastciders, Yellow Brick Road Winery & Restaurant, Wylie St. Tacos, OffBeat Eatz, Cajun Made Foods, Honeychild’s Sweet Creams and Arepa Station.

“We invite everyone to come out for an uplifting evening and much-needed nourishment for the heart and soul,” Stanley said. “Together, we can help our community heal.”
