HOUSTON, (September 19, 2017) – Whole Foods Market’s Community Giving Day for Levy Park Conservancy set for Sept. 20 has been postponed until later in October. The date has yet to be announced. Whole Foods is still in the midst of ongoing work related to Hurricane Harvey and its aftermath, thus the decision was made to postpone until next month so that resources can be dedicated to the current relief efforts.

Community Giving Day means that five percent of the Upper Kirby Whole Foods Market’s net income that day will be donated to the Levy Park Conservancy (LPC), which operates and manages Levy Park at 3801 Eastside St. Other Whole Foods Market stores in Houston also participate.

“We understand that Whole Foods must focus first on Harvey, and Levy Park Conservancy applauds the company for its generosity in our community,” says Lindsey Carey, LPC’s Programming Coordinator. “When we learn of the new date for Community Giving Day, we will let our constituents know so that they can support us by shopping at the Whole Foods in Upper Kirby.”

Community Giving Day is a designated day during which Whole Foods Market stores give five percent of their day’s net sales to a local nonprofit. It hosts four Community Giving Days per year. To qualify as a Community Partner, the organization must be a 501c3 nonprofit that aligns with the company’s core values and with whom it wants to build an ongoing, mutually beneficial relationship.
