Bayou Land Conservancy appoints Scientist & Policy Expert to Board of Directors

Matthew Berg, PhD

Houston, TX – Bayou Land Conservancy (BLC), a local land trust focused on conserving land and protecting Houston’s primary water source, Lake Houston, announced that Matthew Berg, PhD has been appointed to the board of directors effective July 18th, 2017.

Dr. Berg is the CEO of Simfero Consultants, specializing in program management, government relations and stakeholder engagement. Berg has a Doctor of Philosophy from Texas A&M University in Ecosystem Science and Management/Hydrology. His previous professional experience includes roles as a director of Hydrological Sciences for Artesian Insights and Science and Policy Director for SWC, both in Houston. He has also worked with the Texas Agri-Life Extension Service as a Water Resources Program Specialist and as a US Department of Agriculture National Needs Leadership Development Program Fellow at Texas A&M University.

Dr. Berg has numerous honors, including the Ecological Society of America Policy Award and Future Leader in Science Awards from the American Society of Agronomy, the Crop Science Society of America and the Soil Science Society of America.
