The Back to School project has been a symbol of hope for many underserved families in our area, as every year it provides hundreds of local children from Spring, Klein, parts of Aldine and Cy-Fair Independent School Districts with the supplies needed to start the school year. Walk-in applications will be accepted until 1,500 children are registered with NAM’s Assistance Program.

“Starting school should be an exciting time for children and their families, but when parents don’t have enough money to buy what their children need it can be a very overwhelming experience,” explained Debbie Peterson, Director of the Assistance Program at NAM. “Our mission at NAM is to help children reach their full potential and to help alleviate the financial burden many parents feel during this time of the year,” Peterson said.

In addition to receiving school supplies, NAM will provide 200 kindergarteners with a $20 Payless gift card for new shoes. Also, 300 first and second graders will receive a $30 Academy gift card to purchase uniforms to start the new school year with confidence.

School supplies will be distributed at the NAM building on Saturday, August 5, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. as well as Monday, August 7, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m.
