Pond Management Program

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service Office in Fort Bend County will conduct a series of small acreage management programs and workshops starting in May. These workshops will each have different subject-matter material, but all are geared toward small acreage and new landowners. However, you do not have to be a small acreage landowner to attend. Anyone is welcome.

The first workshop, “Pond Management: Site Selection, Design, and Fish and Plant Management”, will be held on Friday, May 5th. Sign-in will begin at 8:00 am and the workshop will begin at 8:30 am and conclude with lunch at 12:30 pm. This workshop will be held at the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service Office in Fort Bend County, 1402 Band Road, Suite 100 in Rosenberg. The cost to attend is $15.

This workshop is designed for landowners with new, existing, or plans for a pond. Topics discussed will include considerations for pond site selection, pond design regarding layout and depth considerations, appropriate selection and management of fish species and numbers based on pond size, and plant management in established ponds. Other workshops will be announced soon. Please check our website at http://fortbend.agrilife.org/ for updated information and to download a registration form.

For the Pond Management workshop, two (2) Continuing Education Units (CEU’s) will be offered to Texas Department of Agriculture Pesticide License holders in the following categories: 1-General and 1-IPM. Space is limited so please register with payment by 4:00 p.m. on Monday, May 1st. If you have questions, please contact Brandy at 281-342-3034 or brandy.rader@ag.tamu.edu.
