  • An ordinance was proposed and approved amending Katy’s Comprehensive Plan to change the future land use from Residential to Industrial; amending Katy’s zoning map by changing the zoning classification from “R-1” “Single-Family District” to “M” “Industrial District” for:
  • A 8.65 Acre tract of Land out of and a part of the residue of a 580 acre parcel of land from J.F. Tomlin to b. Ray Woods and J.D. Woods by Deed dated December 12, 1931, and part of the residue of a 133.403 acre parcel of land conveyed by deed dated March 15, 194 from ruby Woods, to J. D. Woods, Jr. Trust.
  • A 20.012 acre tract in the H. & T. C. Railroad Company Survey, described in deed to Hoffman-Glass Family, Ltd.

This is the land that was annexed to bring the land that the new Amazon Distribution Center would be built Mayor Fabol Hughes stated that the center is expected to open next February and will be used to ship larger items such as music instruments and electronics.  According to an official press release from Amazon the distribution center is expected to bring approximately 1,000 new jobs to Katy. “Look elsewhere in this publication for that release.”

  • Final Plat of Katy Creek Estates Street Dedication, Subdivision of 1.654 acres out of the H.&.T.C.R.R. company Survey abstract 170, Waller County was approved by both the City Planning and Zoning Committee and the Council.
  • Final Plat of Katy Creek Estates Section One, Subdivision of 42.362 Acres, 95 Lots 7 reserves, 4 blocks in the H.&.T.C.R.R. Company Survey, Abstract 170, Waller County was approved by the CPZ and Council.
  • Final Plat of Katy Creek Estates Section two, subdivision of 47,138 Acres, 79 Lots, 6 Reserves, 3 blocks out of the H.&.T.C.R.R. company Survey, Abstract 170 and Abstract 763, fort Ben and Waller County was approved by CPZ and Council.
  • Final Plat of Cane Island Section 23, Subdivision of 14.73 Acres, 49 Lots, 1 Block and 2 Reserves Out of the F. Eule Survey, Abstract 376, Waller County was approved by CPZ and Council.
  • An Ordinance Amending zoning Ordinance No. 621, Section 12.13 “Katy Main Street” Planned Development District, Amending Certain Restrictions and Regulations was approved by Council.
  • Proposed Special Use Permit Amending Zoning Ordinance No. 621 to allow for an Institution of a Religious Nature (Bethany Worship Center) in a “C-2” General business district, located at 121 FM 1463, Suite A.  Applicants are Pastor Matthew s. Miller and Owner Butch Baumann. Permit was approved by Council.
  • Elizabeth Riley came forward at the time of Public Comments to bring to council a discussion of encroachment on A Street. Riley stated the owner of the home next to her property put up a fence and cement driveway that blocked the frontage of her property. The driveway has a cement curb that would make it difficult to tie onto.  David Lyndecker discussed some of the issues with the project and possible solutions.  After Riley left the council chambers Mayoral Candidates Hill Adams and Chuck Brawner followed and asked questions about the situation and looked at her documentation.  Both assured Riley that they would do some research on this issue and try to get a resolution.
  • Council approved Convention & Tourism Bureau Hotel Occupancy Tax Grant Applications to:
    1. Ainsley’s Angels, Southwest Texas – Typhoon Texas Kids Triathlon, May 21st, Typhoon Texas Waterpark & Katy Mills Mall-Amount requested was $35,000; Amount approved by CTB on 3-22-17 is $30,000.
    2. City of Katy – Roof Replacement at Wright-Museum, Katy Heritage Park – Amount Requested is $34,500 (Funding Historical Restoration or Preservation Programs) (Approved by CTB on 3-22-17)
  • Council Approved removing 1990 John Deere 870 tract from Surplus and Returning to City of Katy Inventory (declared surplus 02-13-2017).
  • Awarded a Bid to A & M Construction, Rowlett, Texas, for 500,000 gallon Elevated Tank Rehabilitation at Katy Mills, in the amount of $318,500, Total Project Cost is $373,675. (total project cost includes bid amount, contingencies, engineering and inspection.)
  • Awarded a Bid to Cooley Construction Company, Magnolia, Texas, for Morton Road Detention Pond Improvement Project, in the Amount of $2,661,822, Total Project Cost is $3,144,949 (total project cost includes bid amount, contingencies, engineering, surveying, inspections, and publication costs).
  • Resolutions approved were:
    1. Consideration a Resolution Approving an Application for a Drilling Permit by LJA Engineering, Inc. to Install two private water wells to serve Young Ranch Subdivision, Reserve B.
  • Consider a Resolution Approving an Application for A Drilling Permit by LJA Engineering, Inc to install two private water wells to serve Young Ranch Subdivision, Reserve D.
  1. Consider a Resolution Authorizing the Mayor to Enter into an Agreement with Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc. for Copier Lease at Fussell Senior Citizen Activity Center.
  • Consider a Resolution Approving the Use of Municipal Court technology Funds for Purchase of Nimble Storage Device for Software Application and Digital Storage.
