The Fort Bend Children’s Discovery Center celebrates the different abilities that make each child and their senses unique during our Sensational Senses Wonderweek. Hear, see, smell, taste and touch the outside world through tons of “sense”ational, hands-on activities.
BUST A RHYME WONDERWEEK

Celebrate poetry and the spoken word during Bust A Rhyme WonderWeek. Turn a new page and let yourself get lost in your favorite book! Head over to the Fort Bend Children’s Discovery Center for a special week focused on making reading an adventure. Experience fun literacy-inspired activities and performances sure to bring out the poet in you!
DAY OF THE CHILD WONDERWEEK

¡Que vivan los niños! Hooray, kids! “Children’s Day” honors kids on various days in many places around the world. In Mexico, it is celebrated on April 30 and is known as “El día del niño.” The Fort Bend Children’s Discovery Center’s weeklong celebration will focus on the joys of being a kid and on enriching kids’ lives with literacy.

CYBERCHASE – THE CHASE IS ON!

It is the classic good vs. evil adventure! Hacker, a power-hungry villain, is on a mission to take over Cyberspace. Now, it is up to you, three curious kids and a cyber bird to use wits and smarts to save the Cyber world! Join forces with the Cyber Squad: Matt, Inez, Jackie and Digit, in an original quest to save Cyberspace! Blast off into Cyberchase – The Chase Is On!, an out-of-this-world, math adventure in which you play hero and save the day.

From China to Timbuktu, across landscapes and barriers, math is the universal language that transcends all cultures. And now, children will be able to join in the conversation through a hands-on exhibit making its debut at the Fort Bend Children’s Discovery Center. From floor to ceiling, filled to the brim with math games and activities, Everyone Counts! is a collection of bilingual games, brain teasers and activities from around the world which shows how everyone counts in many ways! Everyone Counts! provides an engaging environment for kids to explore math. It captures the best math games and activities— eastern and western, new and ancient—to show how even though exercises may differ from culture to culture, concepts remain the same in any language.
HOW DOES IT WORK?

Explore how the natural world works! How Does It Work? is a physical science-themed exhibit which challenges you to discover the answers to your own scientific questions. How Does It Work? uses concrete examples to examine scientific principles, prompting you to make meaningful connections between the phenomena you encounter at each component and real life experiences.
KIDTROPOLIS
Located in the “Where Does It Come From?” gallery sponsored by Mercedes-Benz of Sugar Land
It’s a city for kids, run by kids! Kidtropolis marks a brand new spot on the map as a real-life kid-metropolis complete with skyline, city government, occupations and systems which make a city work. It’s where kids can choose to be whatever they want to be! The exhibit, which mirrors and highlights the diverse community of Fort Bend County, engages you in financial literacy and civic engagement.

Located in the “How Does My Baby Grow?” gallery
This kid-friendly, bilingual exhibit will give tots, 35 months and under, the opportunity for exploration, discovery, experimentation and wonder using all of their senses: touch, taste, smell, hearing and sight within distinct areas designed to develop critical thinking, problem solving, fine and gross motor skills, as well as oral language development. Tot*Spot is a safe environment which provides multiple opportunities for for quality interaction between child and parent, and allows parents to have positive experiences with their child through play.

The Fort Bend Children’s Discovery Center is a Playground for Your Mind™. It is dedicated to transforming communities through innovative, child-centered learning with a vision to spark a passion for lifelong learning in all children. Located at 198 Kempner St., Sugar Land, TX 77498 in the Historic Imperial Market, the Discovery Center offers a multitude of innovative exhibits and bilingual learning programs for kids ages birth to 12 years.
Admission is $12 per person and $11 for seniors 65 years and older and for members of the military. SPRING BREAK HOURS are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., (Please note: Monday will be open for Discovery Center members only).
