The Arc of Katy to honor community volunteer Vicki Knowles at 2017 Triumph Gala

Vicki Knowles

The Arc of Katy invites the Katy community to participate in its 2017 Triumph Gala on Feb. 24 celebrating the achievements of The Arc of Katy and honoring community volunteer Vicki Knowles as 2017 recipient of its Ann Davis Founder’s Award.
Knowles has served The Arc of Katy as member of the organization’s Board of Directors, chairman of the fundraising/development committee and as Gala Chairman for the past seven years. Vicki was introduced to The Arc of Katy as a volunteer for the National Charity League and was invited to head the Gala Committee in 2010. Vicki’s primary focus has been commitment to future development of a permanent home for The Arc of Katy programs.
“Vicki has been a leading force in raising funds necessary to maintain, build and expand The Arc of Katy’s programs and activities,” said Margaret Laney, Acting President of The Board of Directors for The Arc of Katy. “As Vicki is honored at our Gala this year we also recognize the other individuals in Katy, including founder Ann Davis, all the family members, special education instructors and community leaders who launched and help maintain The Arc of Katy and services it provides to individuals with special needs.”
The Triumph Gala is The Arc of Katy’s main fundraiser. All proceeds are used to produce quality day programs and socials at an affordable cost for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) who reside in the Katy area.
Themed around the historic arches erected throughout the world as monuments to great accomplishments, this year’s Gala has a fiesta theme with a nod to Mexico’s triumphal Arch de Leon located on the Avenue of Heroes in Leon, Guanajuato. The evening event includes social hour, dinner, dancing and other entertainment and silent and live auctions.
