Road Closures Could Impact Commutes This Week

Road Closures associated with the Super Bowl 51 activities this week will affect drives begining Thursday, February 2nd through Monday, February 6th. This map and more can be found at http://bit.ly/2jdXvN7.

Road closures in the downtown area and near Harris County’s NRG Stadium could present challenges for commuters during the next week. The Harris County Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management and its transportation partners strongly advise motorists with workplaces or appointments in these locations to plan alternate routes and allow for additional transit time.
Various streets in the vicinity of the George R. Brown Convention Center and Discovery Green have been closed to create a pedestrian-friendly environment for attendees of the NFL Experience and Super Live. Closures will be in effect, all day, through February 6, the day after Super Bowl 51.
In addition, beginning on Thursday, February 2, 2017, Kirby Drive directly adjacent to NRG Stadium will be closed to vehicle traffic until Monday, February 6, 2017. Murworth Drive will also be closed directly west of the stadium to assist in game-day parking lot access.
METRO advises bus riders to allow extra time for potential disruptions from these road closures. Additional information on bus and rail schedules is available at www.ridemetro.org.
