NAMC to Host Its 6th Annual Gala and Awards Night on April 29, 2017

The Nigerian-American Multicultural Council (NAMC) will host its 6th Annual Gala and Awards Night on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 6:00 PM at the Doubletree Greenway Plaza, 6 E Greenway Plaza, Houston, Texas 77046. The Gala features live entertainment, networking, authentic African cuisine, and a keynote speech from a notable guest. 250+ attendees will gather to reflect on NAMC’s progress and its vision for the upcoming year in an upscale environment. Past attendees include Nigeria’s former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo; Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee; Pastor Kirbyjon Caldwell of Windsor Village United Methodist Church; Dr. Kase Lawal, Chairman / CEO CAMAC Inc.; and Dr. Nelson Oyesiku, Professor of Neurology.

The evening will begin with a cocktail reception where guests will have a chance to mingle and interact with the invited guests of honor. The cocktail reception will be followed by dinner, inspiring speeches by exceptional Nigerian leaders in industry and business, followed by entertainment by authentic Nigerian artists. The theme of the evening is Building Unity, which highlights NAMC’s next community building objective–raising $3 million to build Houston’s Nigerian-American Multicultural Center in Houston, Texas to serve as a center for the community and friends of Nigerian Americans in Houston and the diaspora at large.

NAMC focuses on four core areas: professional development, mentorship, cultural enrichment, and community development. NAMC hosts a number of events through the year including Houston AfriFEST, which shares a multitude of cultures within Africa with thousands in the Houston community, and Career Discovery for High School Students, which exposes students to a wide range of careers. NAMC is a Houston based non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization and we are proud of our work to strengthen the contribution of Nigerian-Americans in society.
