Fort Bend County Libraries invites the public to join in the “Big Library Read” eBook-reading initiative, an international eBook reading program connecting millions of readers around the world simultaneously with the same eBook at the same time, from March 17 through March 31. The 2016 selection for the “Big Library Read” is American Sniper, the New York Times bestselling memoir of U.S. Navy Seal Chris Kyle.
American Sniper was the source for the blockbuster movie that was nominated for six Academy awards, including best picture. U.S. Navy Seal Chris Kyle recorded the most career sniper kills in United States military history. Kyle, who was killed tragically in 2013, writes honestly about the pain of war, including the deaths of two close SEAL teammates. In moving first-person passages throughout, Kyle’s wife Taya speaks openly about the strains of war on their family, as well as on Chris.
