Katy ISD Student Awarded a Surprise $40K Scholarship from College Board

Morton Ranch High School Senior Justus Hadnot will be heading to college with an extra $40,000 in the fall.  Today, Hadnot learned he had earned one of two monthly scholarships awarded by Big Future, College Board’s online guide, which helps students plan for life after high school.  Hadnot will be attending Fort Scott Community College in Kansas, where he plans to run track and major in Management Information Systems.  The scholarship money will assist Hadnot […]

By George Slaughter Josue Barrios can attest to how dreams can come true. Barrios, 19, is a senior at Morton Ranch High School, and has Down syndrome, a genetic disorder. Yet his family works to make things as normal for Barrios as possible, and he doesn’t let it slow him down. By George Slaughter Funeral services have been set for Morton Ranch High School teacher and assistant football coach Stephen Papp, who was killed in an automobile accident over the weekend. Authorities have not yet released details about the accident. Papp’s funeral is set for 3 p.m. Friday at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, 2929 Woodland Hills Dr., in Kingwood, which was his hometown. Katy Independent School District Offers Two High Schools as Shelters, and Transportation to Help Evacuees Get to Shelters

The district has opened two schools as shelters: Cinco Ranch High School, 23440 Cinco Ranch Blvd., and Morton Ranch High School, 21000 Franz Road.
