Seven Lakes Defeats Mayde Creek, 42-35

By George Slaughter Seven Lakes celebrated its Senior Night with a hard-fought 42-35 victory over Mayde Creek Friday night at Legacy Stadium. But in describing the game as “hard-fought,” two connotations come to mind. One connotation was the competitiveness of the game. The Spartans never trailed, but Mayde Creek kept fighting back with big plays to stay in the contest. The Rams, in fact, were threatening to tie the game with less than a minute […]

Cinco Ranch Defeats Mayde Creek 61-13

By George Slaughter Friday night was Cinco Ranch’s homecoming, and its first at Legacy Stadium. The Cougars gave their fans a blowout win, 61-13 over Mayde Creek, to celebrate the occasion. Cinco Ranch improves to 5-1 overall and 4-1 in District 19-6A play. Mayde Creek falls to 3-3 overall and 1-3 in district. There was no drama in this game, but lots of Cougars highlights. Cinco Ranch scored on all six of its first half […]

Mayde Creek Defeats Aldine Nimitz in 51-48 Thriller

Mayde Creek head football coach Mike Rabe.

By George Slaughter Mayde Creek’s dramatic 51-48 win over Aldine Nimitz proved the truth of the cliché that a team must play all four quarters. The winning play came with only six seconds left in the game, when quarterback Keyonte Fiakpul scored on a one-yard quarterback sneak to put the Rams ahead for good. The winning drive came about thanks to a poor snap from center on a Nimitz punt play. The Cougars turned the […]

WEEK THREE…DISTRICT 19-6A GAMES

Cinco Ranch takes the field against Memorial in their 51-0 victory Thursday night.

By Tom Behrens Photos by John Glaser,  https://jmgcreative.shootproof.com. MORTON RANCH MAVERICKS…LOTS OF MISTAKES Low snaps, high snaps over the punter’s head that left him scrambling for his life; fumbled snaps and mental miscues, plus penalties all added up to a disappointing Friday evening as the Morton Ranch Mavericks lose to the Dobie Longhorns, 24-12. In post game player interviews the consensus was pretty much the same: “We weren’t ready for this game. We didn’t play […]

The One to Watch: Anthony Alcoser

By Tom Behrens Mayde Creek Rams’ football team hasn’t lit up any stadium’s scoreboard in a long time. The last time the Rams had a winning season was 2008 when they went 6-5 with a playoff appearance. Since then their most wins in one season was three in 2012. Last year they had 0 wins. It’s hard to be positive when your team is in that situation. I chose Ram quarterback, Anthony Alcoser for the […]

BOYS BASKETBALL Cinco Ranch Boys Basketball going for another District Title

The Cinco Ranch Cougar boys basketball team is gunning for another District 19-6A title this year. After completing the first go-around in District, the Cougs are 6-1. Last year Cinco Ranch was undefeated in District and on a 23 game winning streak when they were defeated by Davis, 65-61. The goal this year is to go even further. The Cougars graduated six players from last year’s team, but forward Marcus Jones was the only starter. […]
