By George Slaughter Katy celebrated its homecoming with a 56-21 win over Tompkins Friday at Legacy Stadium. Unlike last year’s 24-19 Tompkins win, this one wasn’t close. Katy junior quarterback Caleb Koger completed 14-of-17 passes for 331 yards and five touchdowns. His favorite targets were seniors Nic Anderson and Antonio Silva. By George Slaughter Tompkins showed its mettle in a tough district opener against Cinco Ranch, pulling out a 32-28 win Thursday at Rhodes Stadium. The Falcons, defending District 19-6A champions, improved to 5-0 overall, 1-0 in district. The Cougars fall to 3-2 overall, 0-1 in district. By George Slaughter ARLINGTON—The Katy Tigers won the Class 6A Division II football state championship with a 51-14 victory over Cedar Hill Saturday afternoon at AT&T Stadium. The title is the first for Katy since 2015 and is the ninth in the history of the program.
