Katy Independent School District Places Taylor High School Football Coach on Administrative Leave

By George Slaughter The Katy independent School District has placed Taylor High School football coach Trey Herrmann on administrative leave until further notice. The Rams, playing in the first game at the new Legacy Stadium, won a 51-48 thriller on a late touchdown run by quarterback Keyonte Fiakpul. Mayde Creek Defeats Aldine Nimitz in 51-48 Thriller

By George Slaughter Mayde Creek’s dramatic 51-48 win over Aldine Nimitz proved the truth of the cliché that a team must play all four quarters. The winning play came with only six seconds left in the game, when quarterback Keyonte Fiakpul scored on a one-yard quarterback sneak to put the Rams ahead for good. Morton Ranch Begins Season with 36-17 Victory over Dobie

By Tom Behrens Morton Ranch defeated Dobie 36-17 Friday night in the season opener for both teams. Morton Ranch played Dobie last year and lost 24-12. Troy McCormick (Mayde Creek) carried twice for 54 yards, including a 43-yard run, and added two receptions for 14 yards. Bo Levi Mitchell, CFL’s Most Outstanding Player

By Tom Behrens Since becoming a Calgary Stampeder in 2012, Bo Levi Mitchell has appeared in three Grey Cups, winning in 2014 and was game MVP. Last year he won the CFL’s Most Outstanding Player Award. With him as starter, his team’s record is 55-10-2. Katy ISD Opens its New Legacy Stadium

By George Slaughter Legacy Stadium, the Katy Independent School District’s new football stadium that opened for tours Thursday, meets the cliché that Texans expect everything to be bigger and better. It’s certainly bigger, with a 12,000-person seating capacity compared to the 9,768-person seating capacity of Rhodes Stadium.
