Teagan Settle Awarded Thomas Dugan Raffen Memorial Scholarship

San Marcos, TX — This June, Texas State University junior Teagan Settle was named as the 2019 recipient of the Thomas Dugan Raffen Memorial Scholarship ($2,000).

Tommy Raffen was an exceptional student, leader and friend to many across campus. He served as President of his fraternity, Phi Delta Theta, and was a member of Student Foundation and Order of Omega.  Tommy maintained this level of campus leadership while working to pay his way through school.  His work ethic, integrity and dedication to the University and its values serve as his positive legacy.  Tommy was tragically killed in a car accident in May of 1991.  To honor Tommy’s memory this scholarship is presented annually to a Texas State University student who shares his leadership characteristics, optimism, integrity and pride in Texas State.

An outstanding leader, Teagan is a rising junior from Katy, TX pursuing a major in in Clinical Laboratory Science with a minor in Chemistry. After she graduates, she plans to work for a year before attending Baylor College of Medicine to study dermatology or pathology. She maintains that the most influential leaders are those that lead by example and do so in a positive manner.

Since coming to campus as a freshman, Teagan has served the University and its student body in organizations and volunteer activities.  She exemplifies the caliber of leadership that the scholarship seeks to recognize.  She is passionate about Texas State and dedicated to its students.

The Thomas Dugan Raffen, as well as three other award programs, is supported by the Stelos Alliance (www.stelos.org), a non-profit organization with the mission of helping extraordinary young leaders reach their potential.
