Local Wounded Combat Veterans Welcomed at Prasek’s Family Smokehouse to become Certified Backyard Pitmasters hosted by BrisketU

Wounded Combat Veterans Enjoyed a Complimentary hands-on class on smoking brisket and other cuts of beef, pork and fowl hosted by BrisketU

On Saturday, June 8 the Prasek’s Family Smokehouse in Sealy, Texas welcomed more than 20 wounded combat veterans in partnership with BrisketU, a hands-on class for smoking brisket and the Wounded Warrior Project, a non-profit organization that provides a variety of veteran programs and services to wounded warriors.

“It is an honor and a privilege to have the veterans from the Wounded Warrior Project here at our Sealy Store, said Joe Svrcek from Prasek’s Family Smokehouse. “We look forward to continuing the partnership and welcoming the next group of veterans in July.”

The wounded combat veterans became Certified Backyard Pitmasters while enjoying the complimentary class and of course partaking in eating the final product. The Prasek’s Family Smokehouse opened their doors as part of their continued dedication to the veteran community.

“The BBQ class was a complete success,” said John Kadleck, U.S. Army Sgt. and Outreach Specialist for the Wounded Warrior Project. “This event provided an opportunity for Wounded Warrior Project to offer a unique experience to our Warriors that drew some out of their house for the first time in a long time. This type of event promotes engagement between the Warriors, allows them to learn a new skill and improves their mental health through engagement. We look forward to the continued partnership between Wounded Warrior Project and BrisketU to provide many more Warriors with this unique and uplifting experience.”
