Cinco Ranch Branch Library Hosts “Friday Flicks For Teens & Adults”

Fort Bend County Libraries’ Cinco Ranch Branch Library will feature “Friday Flicks for Teens & Adults” on Fridays, June 14 and 28. The movies will begin at 1:30 p.m., in the Meeting Room of the library, located at 2620 Commercial Center Blvd in Katy. In keeping with the Summer Reading Challenge theme of “A Universe of Stories” and the 50th anniversary of the first lunar landing, the library will show movies with space themes.

The movie series will begin on Friday, June 14, with a sci-fi drama starring Amy Adams as Louise Banks, a linguistics professor who leads an elite military squadron of investigators. When mysterious spacecraft appear in various spots around the world, Banks and her team must race against time to find a way to communicate with the extraterrestrial visitors.  Released in 2016, this movie is rated PG-13.

The series continues on Friday, June 28. In this sci-fi thriller released in 2013, Sandra Bullock stars as Dr. Ryan Stone, a brilliant medical engineer. George Clooney co-stars as veteran astronaut Matt Kowalski, who is commanding his last flight before retirement. On a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed and Stone and Kowalski are left completely alone – tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness. The only way home may be to go further out into the terrifying expanse of space. This movie is rated PG-13.

The movies are free and open to the public. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver.

The libraries’ licensing agreement for public showing of films prohibits them from releasing the name of the movie outside of the library.
