Katy Christian Ministries Celebrated 20 years of Golf!

20th Annual Golf Tournament raised $102,000 for Katy Christian Ministries

[Katy, TX, May 16, 2019] Katy Christian Ministries (KCM) hosted their 20th Annual Golf Tournament May 6th, 2019 at Weston Lakes Country Club in Fulshear, TX. Proceeds from the event benefit the programs and services that KCM provides free of charge to families in crisis within a 12 zip code area in the Katy/West Houston area.

The event’s original budgeted goal was $80,000, but members of the KCM Development Committee set out in faith to reach a Big Holy Audacious Goal of raising $100,000 to celebrate the agency’s 35 year anniversary, and 20 years of golf tournaments. The event raised over $102,000, blowing the original $80,000 goal out of the water. The Title sponsor and “Anniversary Angel” was Fort Bend County Commissioner Andy Meyers and Fort Bend Charities. Parkway Fellowship was the Platinum Sponsor. Other sponsors include BGE – Double Eagle and Grace Fellowship UMC – Birdie & Eagle. These sponsors are all long-time supporters of KCM and believe in the mission of transforming lives together.

The tournament featured a scramble format on an 18-hole course, hole in one, raffle prizes, silent auction, a putting contest, Bubba Drive, inside the circle, and closest to the pin games. Participants were treated to a steak dinner following the tournament, and a special, anniversary edition golf polo. Special thanks to the Bagel Cafe Bible Study Group from Grace Fellowship UMC that prepared an incredibly tasty lunch and dinner straight from the grill.

“We had 140 participants this year and the funds received will provide KCM with the means to help families who really need it,” says George Hargett, Golf Committee Chair and KCM Board Member. “We take our mission to ‘transform lives’ seriously and work hard to be good stewards of your financial gifts. $0.89 cents of every dollar goes back into programs for families.”

“We set a big goal this year and it’s with humble thanks to our sponsors, participants, and volunteers for helping us meet that goal for our 35th Anniversary,” says Deysi Crespo, KCM Executive Director. “I was thrilled to see how our community joined with us to make this event a success. We heard nothing but great feedback and excitement for next year’s tournament. We rejoice for the many blessings bestowed on us to serve our brothers and sisters in need.”
