Seven Lakes High School Students Receiving Award

Seven Lakes High School’s production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast received two awards, one for Senior Jared Guidry as Best Supporting Actor for his role as “Lumiere” and a second award for the orchestra group, which was named the Best Orchestra.  The lighting crew at Tompkins High School, made up of Samantha Hennig, Jeff Miller, Rene Thomas Rodriguez, Vibi Roopnarine and Cameron Strapp, received the Best Lighting Design for the musical Once on This Island.

“Competing in the TUTS Tommy Tunes Awards is a great opportunity for Katy ISD students to promote their creativity through theater, dance and music,” said Assistant Director of Fine Arts Damon Archer.  “Such recognition oftentimes ignites the beginning of a lifelong career in performing arts for our Katy ISD students,” added Archer.

TUTS also awards merit and financially-based scholarships to outstanding students, who range from performers, designers, directors, technicians, choreographers and musicians who have been involved in their school’s Tommy Tunes production.  Tompkins High School Senior Addison Hurst was named a scholarship recipient this year.
