Olson Congratulates Tx-22 Congressional Art Competition Winners

WASHINGTON, DC – Rep Pete Olson (TX-22) today congratulated the winners of the 2019 Congressional Art Competition from TX-22. The first place winner is Jessica Liu from Shadow Creek High School. Her piece, “Cloudy with a Chance of Reins,” will be on display in the U.S. Capitol for an entire year. In addition to Jessica’s piece, the 2nd through 4th place winners will have their artwork displayed throughout Olson’s Texas and Washington offices.

“Congratulations to Jessica Liu and all of the talented students who contributed art for this year’s competition,” Rep. Pete Olson said. “Each piece of art is a true testament to these young folks’ creativity and talent. Millions of people from around the country visit the Capitol every year and will have the opportunity to view these talented students’ artwork. I’m thrilled that Jessica’s artwork, “Cloudy With a Chance of Reins,” will represent the 22nd district in our nation’s Capitol building. I would also like to congratulate Kaylee Yu, Amaris Shi and Michelle Wang for placing in the top four. Thank you to all of the talented students who participated in this year’s competition.”

The Congressional Art Competition began in 1982 to provide an opportunity for Members of Congress to encourage and recognize the artistic talents of their young constituents. The overall winner from each district will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol.
