Paetow High School Paraprofessional Charged

March 20, 2019

Dear Paetow High School (PHS) Parents/Guardians and Staff,

The purpose of this letter is to inform you that the Harris County District Attorney’s Office has accepted charges of improper relationship between a teacher and a student, a second-degree felony, as well as online solicitation of a minor, a third-degree felony, for a Paetow High School paraprofessional.  The paraprofessional is expected to turn herself into authorities this afternoon.

The PHS administration was made aware of the issue through another student who noticed a conversation on social media regarding inappropriate content being shared among the staff member and a student. The District took immediate action and removed the paraprofessional from the classroom and later that day the employee was terminated from Katy ISD.

Because the investigation is still ongoing, we are unable to provide additional information at this time, but please be assured that the District takes this allegation very seriously and is fully cooperating with law enforcement. Providing a safe and secure learning environment is and will continue to be our top priority and the District will always act swiftly when that is compromised. Likewise, we will continue to do everything we can to ensure the safety of our students.
