Katy Area Retired Educators (K.A.R.E.) held their monthly meeting and raised funds for K.A.R.E. scholarships through their annual Chocolate Auction. K.A.R.E awards scholarships to Katy ISD Seniors who are aspiring to become teachers.

On February 13, Katy Area Retired Educators (K.A.R.E.) held their monthly meeting and raised funds for K.A.R.E. scholarships through their annual Chocolate Auction. K.A.R.E awards scholarships to Katy ISD Seniors who are aspiring to become teachers. Additionally, guest speaker Gregg Brock, from Texas Retired Teachers Association (TRTA), updated KARE members on their pension benefits.

K.A.R.E.’s next meeting will be held on April 10, where K.A.R.E scholarships will be presented.  This meeting  will also feature thoughts from a Katy ISD Educator.

All public school employees who retired under the Teacher Retirement System (TRS) are welcome to attend and bring a retired educator, friend or neighbor who is not a current member.  K.A.R.E. represents anyone who has worked in a school district and retired through TRS. This includes all employees from custodian to superintendent. Others interested in supporting the goals of the Texas Retired Teachers Association (TRTA) are welcome to join as associate members.
