“Children’s Lighthouse will serve a very special need in Richmond. We will be providing parents a place where they can feel confident that their children are safe and secure, while developing priceless and lasting learning habits,” said Karen Walcher.

“What children learn at a young age stays with them forever. I’m proud to be able to offer parents in our community the opportunity to shape their child’s future through Children’s Lighthouse,” added Daniella Simpson.

This is the first Children’s Lighthouse location for the business partners, who plan to open additional schools in the area. Karen and Daniella each have extensive experience in child care and development, having both been elementary school teachers. While in college, Daniella served as an assistant director at a child care center. Additionally, Daniella served as a reading interventionist and Karen has earned a master’s degree in education. They plan to use their experience and Children’s Lighthouse proven approach to child care to create a school that serves a variety of learning styles. Daniella and Karen oversee the school and manage day-to-day operations, along with a school director and additional staff to facilitate education at the early learning school.

The Children’s Lighthouse building spans approximately 11,000 square feet; the square footage for the whole property is more than 65,000 square feet. The early learning school will provide ample space for children to learn in classroom and group settings, while also offering sizeable play areas both inside and out. An on-site kitchen offers healthy meals and snacks daily for students. Children’s Lighthouse serves families with children six weeks to 12 years old. In addition to child care during traditional school hours, highly interactive after-school programs and summer camps are available to children up to age 12.

Safety is a priority at Children’s Lighthouse. The schools are safe and secure environments that give parents peace of mind with online links to rooms, computerized building entry, security monitoring and transportation to and from area elementary schools.

With experienced educational childcare professionals guiding the company’s operations, Children’s Lighthouse has embedded its proprietary Lighthouse C.A.R.E.S.℠ curriculum into its programming at all existing and upcoming schools. The integrated learning strategies of Lighthouse C.A.R.E.S.℠ focus on students’ intellectual development, social and emotional growth, active learning through hands-on lessons and embedded content that emphasizes the fundamental basics of phonics, reading, math, science and social studies.

Notably, this is the 50th Children’s Lighthouse school to open. Fort Worth-based Children’s Lighthouse has an 25 additional locations in development.

“We are growing into new areas with talented individuals and groups such as the Walchers and Simpsons, who share our passion for community, nurturing care and education,” said Michael Brown, president of Childrens Lighthouse Learning Centers℠. “We couldn’t be happier about adding an early learning school in Richmond and doing so with such dedicated and involved entrepreneurs. It’s exciting to see Children’s Lighthouse continue to grow throughout the region.”
