70th Annual Pony Express To Depart From Houston, Ride Into Austin To Deliver Rodeo Invites To Elected Officials  

WHAT: The Harris County Sherriff’s Mounted Patrol 70th Pony Express Ride will hand deliver invitations for the 2019 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ to the Texas governor, lieutenant governor, secretary of state, agriculture commissioner and speaker of the house.

The Pony Express Ride is an annual tradition, and consists of horses and riders, primarily from Houston-area law enforcement mounted patrol agencies, who travel from Houston to Austin along U.S. Highway 290 to the Texas State Capitol in a relay fashion. Once they arrive, riders will hand off official Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo gold badges and letters of invitation to elected officials on the steps of the Capitol.
