American Legion Post 164 honored Katy-area firefighters and paramedics Dec. 1 with six awards at an annual dinner at the Elks Lodge.
Three firefighters receiving awards were: Vincent Moreno of Harris County Emergency Services District 48, Kenny Schwinn of the Westlake Volunteer Fire Department, and Trey Lee of the Katy Fire Department.
Three paramedics selected were: Sharief Zahra of Harris County ESD 48, Haley Gibbs of the Westlake Volunteer Fire Department, and Jesus Sayago of the Katy Fire Department
The six winners were nominated by their respective organizations.
Will Miller, a past commander of Post 164, served as emcee. Harry Woodstrom, current commander, provided historical perspective on the link between The American Legion and first responders to emergencies.
