Last chance to see “Why We Tell the Story” Sunday, Nov. 11 at 2:30 PM

SUGAR LAND, Texas (Nov. 6, 2018) – Back by popular demand! After four successful shows last weekend, Inspiration Stage has added one final performance of audience favorite Once on This Island JR.

The final encore show will be performed Sunday, Nov. 11 at 2:30 P.M. at the historic Sugar Land Auditorium, 226 Lakeview Dr.

“This show needs to be seen,” says Inspiration Stage’s artistic director, and the musical’s director and choreographer, Mandy Seymore-Sensat. “It’s a story of love, hope and faith, beautifully told through music and movement by our talented and inspiring cast of storytellers, gods and young Ti Moune.”

The original Broadway production of Once on This Island ran from 1990 to 1991, and its revival is currently still on Broadway after winning the 2018 Tony Award for Best Musical Revival. Once on This Island is a one-act musical, set in the French Antilles, with a book and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens and music by Stephen Flaherty, the prolific duo who also wrote Seussical The Musical, Ragtime and others. It concerns a peasant girl, TiMoune, on a tropical island, who uses the power of love to bring together people of disparate social classes while negotiating mystical forces that shape their lives.

“We’ve never had a set like this at Inspiration Stage. It’s so open and vibrant,” Seymore-Sensat. “It even rains on stage!”
