Katy ISD Art Students Earn Over $20,000 in Fort Bend County Fair Art Auction

KATY [October 16, 2018] – Twelve of the 20 pieces of artwork auctioned off at the Fort Bend County Fair Event were created by Katy Independent School District students, earning a cumulative total of over $20,000 this year.  Seven Lakes High School student Flora Hu’s creation entitled “A Cowboy’s Bestfriend” won the “Reserve Grand Champion” recognition while four additional students were ranked the highest in “Best of Class”.

“It is inspiring to see the hard work our Katy ISD students put into these masterpieces and ultimately it’s so rewarding to see their smiles when they are recognized,” said Assistant Director of Fine Arts Mitzi Jones.  “Each piece has a stunning story attached to it which brings their art to life,” added Jones.
