Red Cross Chief Executive Officer Deploys to Disaster

HOUSTON, TX (October 15, 2018) – Henry Van de Putte, Executive Director of the Houston chapter of the American Red Cross and Chief Executive Officer for the Texas Gulf Coast Region, has deployed to North Carolina.  He will be assisting in Latino engagement for both Hurricanes Florence and Michael.

“The Red Cross’ mission as a humanitarian organization is to reach every person in need following a disaster. When there is an identified underserved population, the goal is to then figure out how to connect with that community,” said Henry Van De Putte, Regional Chief Executive for the American Red Cross, Texas Gulf Coast. “We have a team of Spanish speaking individuals, including myself, who are reaching out to those who need help but are afraid to seek assistance because of fear or a language barrier.”

There are currently sixteen people from the Texas Gulf Coast Region who are deployed.
