Company invites people to pitch in at Memorial Park, learn about new sports/lifestyle app and drink a beer
HOUSTON, October 11, 2018 — Team members and local athletes/fans of Axis Earth, the new sports/lifestyle tech platform that connects athletes in outdoor and adventure sports, will join forces at Memorial Park Conservancy’s “Volunbeering” event with St. Arnold’s Brewing Company on Oct. 20. The Axis Earth group will assist in one or more conservation efforts at Memorial Park, including seed spreading, wildflower seed collection, spreading of compost and topsoil, removal of invasive grasses and fence building.
“VolunBeering” is from 4 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., with St. Arnold’s providing the post-conservation refreshments for corporate volunteers who pitch in to help keep Memorial Park pristine. Axis Earth will host a booth where people can learn about the platform (apps available in iOS and Android) and its functionality by talking with CEO and co-founder Jeff Long and others.
“We are excited to come out to Memorial Park to help preserve and protect our natural environment in Houston,” says Long. “It’s a great opportunity to mingle with like-minded folks interested in outdoor sports; we invite people to check us out and grab some goodies. Axis Earth actually uses technology to get people off their devices and outdoors to discover new sports, people and places. Memorial Park is ideal for this, with running, cycling, tennis, golf and softball.”
Long believes there is an untapped market of athletes who are focused on individual sports such as skiing, snowboarding, rock climbing, mountain biking, running and fishing. The new Axis Earth app targets this subset of athletes and gives them a place to better connect to their peers, fans and even potential sponsors. A cross between a social media tool, a professional networking site and a platform to expand an influencer role, Axis Earth takes the best parts of existing social media platforms (photos, status updates, professional experience and cross-promotion) and presents them in one place.
Volunteers are asked to meet behind the Cullen Running Trails Center, 7575 Picnic Ln, 77007. For more information about “Volunbeering” for Memorial Park Conservancy, go to memorialparkconservancy.org.
