SAN FELIPE—The Friends of the San Felipe de Austin State Historic Site will host their annual meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the San Felipe de Austin State Historic Site Museum, 220 2nd Street.

The meeting is open to the public and those interested in learning about the Friends and their mission to support the historic site and its new museum operations.

Following a brief welcome, program and business meeting, attendees will be able to tour the new museum and learn about upcoming programs and events. The museum store will also be open for those with a shopping interest.

No admission will be charged for the annual meeting and museum tours, though donations to the Friends directly support the historic site’s development and operation.

As the headquarters of Stephen F. Austin’s Colony in Mexican Texas, the historic town of San Felipe de Austin played a pivotal role in the arrival of American settlers and the ultimate march to independence. Serving as a political, economic and social crossroads in early Texas, San Felipe de Austin and its residents have deep connections to the events that took place at all of the prominent Texas Revolution sites, including the Alamo.

The San Felipe de Austin State Historic Site and Museum is one of 22 state historic sites operated by the Texas Historical Commission. The site and museum are open every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
