Healthcare executive to guide local lung health initiatives
HOUSTON – (September 13, 2018) – Today, the American Lung Association in Texas – Houston announced that Stephanie Madrid was selected to serve as the Chair of the Local Leadership Board of Directors, leading lung disease prevention and lung health initiatives in Texas. “Stephanie is recognized statewide for providing visionary leadership, strong organizational skills, finance, logic and decisiveness,” said Katie Jones, executive director for the Lung Association in Texas – Houston. “She has experience on the hospital level as well as a healthcare executive. Our organization is lucky to have her as a strategic advisor and leader.”
Madrid is the division vice president for Kindred Hospitals of Houston and is the Integrated Market Leader supporting collaboration and strategic partnership between Kindred and its local partners.
Madrid is an experienced healthcare executive with leading operations, growth strategy, and proven results towards delivering higher quality of care. She began her career as a Speech-Language Pathologist at Kindred Hospital – Houston Medical Center and has taken on progressive leadership roles within the organization over the span of her 15-year career with Kindred.
“The American Lung Association is an organization that impacts everyone’s lives in Houston, through clean air initiatives to smoking cessation programs and lung cancer patient support,” said Madrid. “I look forward to helping broaden their impact throughout greater Houston.”
In addition to a clinical master’s degree, she completed a Master of Business Administration degree from Baylor University in 2017. She also is a Thought Leader with the Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce, and is an active member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
The Lung Association conducts much of its work through funds raised at fundraisers throughout the year. Coming up on the calendar is the organization’s annual Fight For Air Climb on April 6, 2019 where participants climb 48 floors of stairs in the 1001 Fannin Building in downtown Houston. The Lung Association will also host its annual Sip & See Fundraiser on November 29th, where we will honor those with lung cancer and hear updates from local American Lung Associated funded researchers.
