(Katy, Texas) ~ Keep Encouraging Youth toward Success – KEYS – the Katy ISD mentor program, will kick off another successful year of mentoring on Friday, September 21, from 8-9:30 a.m. in the Merrell Center. Katy ISD campus KEYS Liaisons will be on hand to answer questions and network with veteran mentors and community members interested in joining the KEYS program.
KEYS is a relationship, not a tutoring, program that matches a caring adult with a student on the brink of success. Mentors make a one-school-year commitment and meet with their students each week, on campus, during the school day, during the school year. KEYS survey results show that on average 88% of KEYS students increased grades, 79% decreased absences and 88% decreased discipline referrals.
Over its 20-year-history, thousands of mentors have changed the trajectory of their KEYS student’s lives. When school began, hundreds of Katy ISD students were waiting for a mentor of their own.
