Sen. Cruz: ‘Texas Is at the Center of the Energy Renaissance Occurring in the United States’

Applauds FERC announcement of notice of schedules for natural gas liquefaction-export projects in Texas

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) today issued a statement applauding the announcement that the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) issued environmental schedules for 12 liquefied natural gas (LNG) export projects, six of which are located in the state of Texas. The FERC schedule establishes a planned completion date of the environmental review for the LNG export facility. These projects will create tens of thousands of jobs in Texas, and bring billions of dollars in investment to the state.

“FERC’s announcement is welcome news to the state of Texas, the nation, and to our trade partners abroad,” Sen. Cruz said. “The Texas projects included in this announcement will bring tens of thousands of jobs to the Lone Star State for many years to come, and renewed investment in many communities, some of which are still recovering from the devastation of Hurricane Harvey. Texas is at the center of the energy renaissance occurring in the United States. The shale revolution has transformed Texas into the leading natural gas producer and the United States into a net exporter of natural gas. FERC’s announcement is another important step forward in the American energy renaissance to boost greater economic growth, create millions of good-paying jobs, lower energy costs, and increase energy security. I encourage FERC to expeditiously process and finalize the applications for these projects without any further delay.”
