Texas A&M University is ranked No. 1 in Texas among public universities

COLLEGE STATION, Aug. 13, 2018 — Texas A&M University is ranked No. 1 in Texas among public universities and tops among fellow Southeastern Conference schools in Money magazine’s new “best college values” rankings.

The magazine’s rankings, released today, rank the top 50 schools in the country for quality, affordability and salaries of graduates as they pursue their careers.

“These schools deliver a superior education at an affordable price, enabling graduates to avoid heavy debt and to succeed in the workplace,” the magazine says of its ranking methodology.

Princeton University is ranked No. 1 in the survey, followed by the University of California-San Diego, California-Irvine, UCLA and Stanford to round out the top five.

“Once again, Texas A&M is being recognized for the outstanding education we offer at an affordable price,” said Texas A&M University President Michael K. Young. “We will always strive to bring higher education and upward mobility to those who seek it, just as we have for the past 142 years.”

In the overall rankings, Rice University is tops in Texas, placing at No. 13; Texas A&M is ranked No. 17 and the University of Texas is ranked No. 27.  No other Texas schools ranked among Money’s top 50 list.

Numerous other Texas colleges are ranked among 727 schools in the magazine’s complete list of rankings.

Among Southeastern Conference schools, Vanderbilt is ranked No. 18 and the University of Florida comes in at No. 23.

The list is dominated by California schools: 13 universities from California are ranked in the top 50.

Texas A&M is the only public college in Texas to make the Fiske Guide To Colleges in its recent rankings of “Best Buys” of U.S. colleges.
