Science Day For The Blind Featured Experiments In Nanotechnology And Space Science

HOUSTON, TX, August 8, 2018 – Be an astronaut, water scientist, chemist, or rocket scientist – these were the exciting choices for blind and visually impaired clients of The Lighthouse of Houston at Science Day August 6.

Sponsored by researchers from Rice University-based NEWT Center (Nanotechnology Enabled Water Treatment), Lighthouse Science Day featured four stations with 10  different modules where participants could learn about spacesuit design, nanocubes, environmental elements, and more.  One of the highlights of the event was an official NASA spacesuit provided by Tanya Rogers, a Rice graduate student and Research and Technology Development Engineer at NASA.
