Family activities, vendor booths, games and raffles will be center stage at the event
HOUSTON (July 9, 2018) – Momentum Katy (25410 Katy Mills Parkway) will celebrate its one-year anniversary with “One Mo’ Year Older,” a summer block party, Sunday, July 29, 2018, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The family-friendly event is open to the public and includes climbing, vendor booths featuring local businesses, games and activities, food trucks, a scavenger hunt and raffles with a chance to win prizes like free memberships and gear. From 6 to 10 p.m. is a members-focused party, those interested in joining Momentum can become a member at “One Mo’ Year Older.” The event is free for members and $15 for non-members, that includes all-day access to the gym and gear.
During the event, Momentum Katy will offer a flash sale on new 30-day trial memberships. They will also waive enrollment fees for new monthly EFT memberships, offer 20 percent off summer camp registration and 25 percent off Momentum-branded retail items.
“The Katy community has embraced indoor climbing with great passion, and year one exceeded our expectations,” said Rees Williams, general manager of Momentum Katy. “We’ve watched families discover climbing together, and people of all ages and abilities reach new levels of fitness and focus from climbing while making new friends and having a lot of fun. More than 1,000 people attended the grand opening of Momentum Katy July 29, 2017. Since then the 36,000 square-foot facility that is one of the largest climbing gyms in America has hosted two USA Climbing competitions this year: the USA Climbing Sport and Speed Youth Climbing Competition in February and USA Climbing Collegiate National Championships in April.
Special events that took place over the last year include Ladies Nights, Mo’ Mixer Competitions, and exclusive members-only parties. Ongoing programs at Momentum Katy include youth programs, climbing school, summer camps, and the newest addition to their class schedule: Climbing into Yoga and Mindfulness.
Momentum Katy offers roped climbing, bouldering, training walls and kids climbing areas. It includes a 5,520 square-foot cross training area, yoga studio, locker rooms and laptop workspaces. The second-floor mezzanine offers “auto-belay” climbing and a party area.
