Katy ISD Recognized for Excellence in Risk Management

The Katy Independent School District Risk Management Department recently received an Excellence Award from the Texas Association of School Boards’ (TASB) Risk Management Fund, along with $1,000 to be used toward risk management efforts.

Katy ISD was one of 10 Texas public school districts to receive the award during the association’s conference in Austin, Texas.  The district was recognized for its No Texting and Driving video, which was created shortly after new legislation passed making texting while driving illegal in Texas.  The video has now been shared with approximately three million people as well as with the 100 largest school districts across the nation.

“What started out as a simple idea by risk management personnel has now turned into a life-saving approach,” said Lance Nauman, Director of Katy ISD Risk Management.  “This video has received numerous prestigious awards and we are honored to receive an additional renowned recognition from TASB,” added Nauman.

The TASB Risk Management Fund was established in 2004 as a way of recognizing members who have demonstrated excellence in risk management initiatives, products or programs.
