Union Pacific Railroad Underwrites 4th Annual Bayou Land Conservancy Film Festival

Houston, TX – For the fourth year in a row, Bayou Land Conservancy (BLC) hosts The Wild and Scenic Film Festival. As the land conservation organization protecting Houston’s primary water source, Lake Houston, BLC will feature around 10 environmental films from around the world. Selected films will cover a variety of environmental topics and offer spectacular scenery, breathtaking journeys, and stories of human connections. This year’s event will be held on the evening of Thursday, August 30 at the Star Cinema Grill in Vintage Park. Union Pacific Railroad has graciously stepped up to underwrite this year’s film festival.  “Union Pacific has a long history of conservation partnerships,” says Brenda Mainwaring, Asst. Vice President Public Affairs for Union Pacific Railroad. “Supporting Bayou Land Conservancy’s Wild and Scenic Film Festival is a natural fit. We are excited to support the festival and share Union Pacific’s environmental message.”

Jill Boullion, Executive Director explains, “The film festival is Bayou Land Conservancy’s summer fundraiser. During the hot summer evenings, we want to offer an opportunity for a family friendly night spent indoors with like-minded friends who want to protect and enjoy our natural environment. Our goal is for guests to feel inspired and motivated to make a difference in our community and the world. We are delighted to welcome Union Pacific Railroad as our event underwriter.”

There are still many sponsorship opportunities available, and tickets are now on sale. Guests can take advantage of early bird pricing through August 17 by visiting www.bayoulandconservancy.org.

Wild & Scenic Film Festival is a production of the South Yuba River Citizens League (SYRCL). It began in 2003 to promote community building within the Yuba Watershed in California, as well as a way to explore environmental issues through an exciting and influential medium – film. Bayou Land Conservancy has worked with SYRCL for four years as a tour partner and will show selected, independently-produced, environmental films from around the globe.

About Bayou Land Conservancy: Bayou Land Conservancy is a community-sponsored land preservation organization working to permanently protect land in the Houston region since 1996. Bayou Land Conservancy preserves land along streams for flood control, clean water, and wildlife. We envision a protected network of green spaces that connect people to nature.
