Library To Demonstrate Online Job And Career Resources

Are you looking for a job or considering a career change?  You can pound the pavement with all the other job-hunters, or you can begin your search with a little preliminary legwork at the library!

Job-hunters can learn about special online resources that are available free through Fort Bend County Libraries at an introductory “Job-Search Databases” demonstration on Monday, July 9, from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m., in the Computer Lab at the Cinco Ranch Branch Library, located at 2620 Commercial Center Blvd in Katy.

Library staff will demonstrate easy-to-use online resources that are available to assist job-hunters who are searching for a job or a new career. Learn how to use the “Job & Career Accelerator™” and “Career Center Plus” resources to create professional resumés and cover letters, get detailed and current information on a variety of occupations, match personal interests and skills with a desired career, improve interviewing skills, prepare for certification exams, and much more. Get detailed information on more than 1,000 different occupations, and find out how to match interests and skills with possible careers. More than five million local and national job postings are continually updated in these helpful resources.

The Job & Career Accelerator and Career Center Plus resources can be accessed remotely at any time of the day or night from a home computer with an Internet connection. A library card barcode number is required to use this resource outside of the library.

The class is free and open to the public. Seating is limited, however, and reservations are required. To register online at the library’s website (www.fortbend.lib.tx.us), click on “Events,” select “Cinco Ranch Branch Library,” and find the program. Participants may also register by calling the library at 281-395-1311, or by visiting the library.
