Barbara Baron, Atria Cinco Ranch Resident To Be Awarded  The Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award

The most prestigious award issued by the FAA

Who:                BARBARA BARON, ATRIA CINCO RANCH resident will be awarded the most prestigious award the FAA issues to pilots certified under Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR) part 61. This award is named after the Wright Brothers, the first US pilots, to recognize individuals who have exhibited professionalism, skill, and aviation expertise for at least 50 years while piloting aircraft as “Master Pilots”.

What:               Baron Barbara got her private license in 1968 because her husband signed her up for ground school!! She was a reluctant at first.  She has flown in 2 powder puff derbies, became a CFI, and then a Designated Pilot Examiner for the FAA. She has restored an antique Belgian/French airplane called a ‘Stampe” and has 40,000 hours and still has current CFII, hot air & BFR.

Why:                Barbara and her husband Bob Baron ran Blue Ridge Regional Airport (Virginia) for 16 years.  She has made many contributions in the field of aviation and has inspired many lives.  Barbara Baron has given over 6,000 check rides in her 50 years of aviation.  Barbara holds the following ratings: Commercial pilot, airplane single and multiengine land instrument, Flight Instructor, Gold Seal, Single and Multiengine.  Lighter than air commercial: Hot Air Balloon, Designated pilot examiner: Private, Instrument, Commercial, Sport Pilot, Flight Instructor Renew and Add-ons. Barbara will be in a group of less than 250 women to earn this award.
