(Katy, Texas)  – Katy ISD recently celebrated the graduation of its Leadership Katy Class of 2018 – this school year’s group of parent volunteers, community volunteers and business leaders who officially completed the district’s annual Leadership Katy program.  Hosted each month by Katy ISD Superintendent, Dr. Lance Hindt and other district leaders, Leadership Katy gives participants a deeper understanding of district functions and organizational structure through monthly, behind-the-scenes insight into district operations.

Launched in 2003 as a superintendent-led community engagement initiative, more than 1,200 community members have now completed the program. Leadership Katy class members represent all areas of the district and are afforded the opportunity to take part in a unique in-depth, interactive, year-long learning experience.  Through the process, Leadership Katy members also build relationships with district leaders and personnel responsible for Katy ISD programs and services. Facilitated by Katy ISD Partners in Education, monthly topics include School Finance, Teaching and Learning, Growth and Construction, Support Services, Technology, Governance and more.  Each year’s participants are nominated by Leadership Katy alumni, campus principals and Katy ISD administrators.
